About

Yard of the month Guidelines

  • All current Pavilion properties are automatically eligible (whether occupied by a renter or the owner - the RESIDENT will be the one receiving the award, as we assume they are maintaining the lawn).
  • Key criteria include manicured yard, beautification of home, originality and creativity of landscaping.
  • The upkeep of the yard can reflect the efforts of the residents or that of a professional landscaper.
  • An award duration lasts a single calendar month and runs from the first day to the last day of that same month.
  • The same property can not receive the award more than once in the same ROLLING 12 month period, meaning 12 months must elapse between awards for the same yard.
  • In the event they are selected, a homeowner may elect to refrain from participation.
  • Yard of the Month winners MUST be current with their association assessments.
  • Winners may be disqualified if their property is in violation of any POA covenants or city/county regulations.
  • While an individuals home is being recognized as Pavilion's "Yard of the Month", they are expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the title.
  • The judges should not knowingly select each other as the winner, as the purpose of this is to promote other homeowners participation.  Of course, as this program goes on and becomes more popular, judges will not be disqualified.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • LANDSCAPE AND FLOWER BEDS:  Beds should be weeded and edged.  Flowers should be well maintained and pruned, with any dead plants removed or replaced.  Natural areas should be clean.  Beautification efforts can include new flowers new shrubs, etc.  Plantings should be in scale with the surroundings.
  • WALKWAYS AND DRIVEWAYS:  Walkways and driveways shall be clean and stain free, including containers or yard products removed from view.  Area in front of curb free from debris and dirt.  The exterior may also have a similar appearance after dusk including accent lighting, safety lighting, visible interior lighting, etc.
